Gifts
Put tokens in a link and send it. Whoever opens the link first gets the gift.
Send a giftIn shortA gift is a link that holds tokens. Whoever opens it gets what is inside, even with no wallet yet. A gift cannot be taken back, so send it only to the person it is for.
- Per gift
- 1 to 5 tokens, any amounts
- Opening fee
- carried by the gift
- Batch
- up to 200 gifts
- Take back
- not possible
A gift moves tokens from your wallet to a fresh address made just for that gift, and gives you a link that holds the key to it. Whoever opens the link can move what the gift holds into their own wallet. The key lives only in the part of the link after the #, which browsers never send to a server: Saturn never sees it, never stores it and cannot open a gift for anyone. A gift link is a bearer link, like cash: whoever holds it can open the gift.
Anyone who opens the link first gets the gift. Send it only to the person it is for.
A gift cannot be taken back. If the link is lost, what it holds stays at its address for good.
Sending one gift
- Open Social, Gifts. Type the ticker of a token you hold and the amount. Add up to four more tokens with Add a token; the first one is the main coin of the gift box.
- Optionally switch on Add fees for a first trade (off by default).
- Make the link, then copy it or save it as a file. The Fund button stays off until you have.
- Fund the gift: one signature in your wallet.
- Send the link to the person, exactly as it is.
The fee each gift carries
Opening a gift is a transaction too, and the person opening it may hold nothing yet. So every gift carries its own fee: about 0.1 KCAL and 0.01 SOUL for a gift of one token, a little more for each further token (about 0.16 KCAL and 0.02 SOUL for five), enough for the network to move the gift into a brand-new wallet. What the opening does not use, about 0.06 KCAL and 0.01 SOUL, stays at the gift's address as dust.
- The page checks each ticker on the network: a token you do not hold, an NFT, a token that cannot be transferred or one typed twice is refused, and a ticker that looks like a token with more liquidity (5OUL next to SOUL) is shown in red until you confirm it.
Funding costs the network's usual gas and a small data fee in SOUL for each new token row at a gift address. The page shows both before you sign.
Fees for a first trade
The Add fees for a first trade switch is off by default. When it is on, each gift also carries 1 KCAL and 1.1 SOUL, so the person can pay the network's fees for a first trade on Saturn right after opening it: the site asks for 1 SOUL in the wallet before any swap.
Many gifts at once
- Up to 200 gifts in one batch. Every gift in a batch holds the same tokens: one amount per token for all, or a pasted list with one amount per token on each line, in the order of the tokens, and an optional note.
- Before funding, export the batch as a CSV or Excel file. It holds every link, amount, note and gift address. The Fund buttons stay off until this exact batch was exported and you ticked that you saved the file.
- A batch of up to 200 gifts is normally one signature. If a network limit ever splits it into parts, the page says how many before you export, and you press Fund for each part yourself, one tap each.
- Send the links only after every part is filled. If the page closes halfway, Resume a batch reads your exported file back, shows which gifts are filled and funds only the empty ones.
The export file holds the links themselves: anyone with the file can open every gift in it. Keep it like cash.
Opening a gift
- Open the link. The page shows what the gift holds, read from the chain, and who sent it.
- No wallet yet? Make a passkey wallet on the spot, and write down its recovery key before it counts as made.
- Open the gift. The gift's own key signs the transaction and its fee is paid from the gift, so the person opening it signs nothing and pays nothing.
- Then Make your first trade opens a swap from the gift's first token that is not KCAL or SOUL.
Sent gifts
Sent gifts lists the gifts your wallet funded, read from the chain: Opened (when, and into which wallet) or Not opened (what it still holds). There is no button to take a gift back. Your export file is the only way back to a link.
Gifts opened inside other apps
Many apps open links in their own browser, where passkeys and downloads often fail. The gift page then offers to open the same link, gift included, in Safari or Chrome. On Android, tap Open in Chrome. On an iPhone, copy the link first, then open Safari and paste it: the app's own Open in browser item opens the page without the gift. Gifts are sent from a full browser.
Keeping links intact
- Send the link as it is. Do not shorten it: a link shortener can drop the part after the #, and the gift with it.
- Open a gift soon. Link scanners in email and synced browser history can keep a copy of a link.
- A link that was made but never funded opens as not filled yet.
- Can I cancel a gift I sent?
- No. A gift cannot be taken back: its key is only in the link. If the link is lost, the tokens stay at the gift's address.
- Does Saturn hold the gift?
- No. The tokens sit at the gift's own address on the chain, and only the link can move them. Saturn never sees or stores the key.
- Which tokens can I send?
- Any fungible token your wallet holds that can be transferred: up to five different tokens per gift, each in the amount you choose. Type its ticker; the page checks it on the network.
